In the March issue of AvBuyer, ALTEA Partner Michael Hoby Andersen spoke to Gerrard Cowan about Service Bulletins (SBs) and Airworthiness Directories (ADs).

“SBs and ADs are a natural part of aircraft ownership, but managing them wisely is key to safety, reliability and resale value,” he asserts.

“Operators should always align SB and AD planning with their mission profile and aircraft usage. Packaging upgrades with 12-, 24-, 60- month events avoids unnecessary disassembly and reduces the number of maintenance events. However, this isn’t always possible, especially in cases of updates to avionics software or cybersecurity, where standalone planning may be more efficient and ensure higher-quality compliance.”
