Robin Dunlop in AvBuyer
December 11th, 2025
In the December issue of AvBuyer, ALTEA Partner, Robin Dunlop spoke to Gerrard Cowan on understanding aftermarket support.
In the article, he offers advice for potential buyers. “Comprehensive aftermarket support packages can help reduce losses on an aircraft, as they can lead to higher resale prices and reduce hidden costs of operations such as AOG (aircraft on ground) time,” he explains. “Programs like Bombardier Smart Parts or Dassault FalconCare, which provide OEM-certified maintenance histories, can help aircraft command higher prices, and should ensure a more efficient parts supply, minimising downtime.”
It is essential that buyers know the right questions to ask and the correct answers to look for when considering the aftermarket support situation of an aircraft, advises Dunlop. Such matters could include the OEM’s regional support footprint, whether the aircraft has undergone any retrofits, or if existing aircraft coverage is transferrable to a new owner.
