In Issue No 94 of Ultimate Jet, ALTEA partner Robin Dunlop spoke to Editor-In-Chief Sylvie Peron about his outstandingly understated ‘Hygge’ concept design, a finalist entry in Flexjet’s recent Project LXI design competition.

“A private jet is about having the freedom to experience the quality of life itself,” voices Dunlop’s design partner Marie Waedendries of My Wings Studio. Freedom means comfort, so Dunlop and Waedendries sought to create an “oasis of calm” when designing their jet interior with their ALTEA team, which included Aviation Adviser & Industry Leader, Charlotte Pedersen; and ALTEA Completions Partner, Michael Hoby Andersen.

Inspired by the Danish concept of hygge, which celebrates presence and a sense of home, the finished design of the same name is an intimate and grounding space, filled with thoughtful materials, gentle forms, and dynamic lighting that adapts the mood of the cabin to the destination.

A client’s sense of freedom is personal, inextricably linked to their identity. Striking the balance between aesthetics, functionality, and client individuality can only be achieved by a designer with a unique pedigree, a diverse-client base, and solid experience in the industry, asserts Dunlop. “Our role at ALTEA is to guide the client toward an interior vision that subtly says “this is who you are” – and to do it with conviction, clarity, and class.”
